|Me at the top of St. Paul's Cathedral, in London|
My name is Julie, and I am a alumna of the University of Florida (English major! Representing!). I also work part-time at a special collections library, and in August 2012, I'll be starting my Master's in Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In the past, I've had a lot of crazy, fun jobs, like being a camp counseler at a camp conducted entirely in Spanish and working in a kitchen on an island of bird-watchers. When I'm not doing all that stuff, I like to read (everything, but mostly YA), run (but only with music) and paint (badly). I also really like writing, and I wrote a YA novel called Cardboard Characters. You can find more about that here.
Some more stuff I like: Travelling, food, Glee, Gossip Girl, YA novels, The Mortal Instruments series, Brand New (the band), Nerdfighters, chocolate, ice cream, the ocean, Harry Potter, and Maine.
Favorite writers: John Green, Sarah Dessen, Kurt Vonnegut, Bill Bryson, J.K. Rowling, Cassandra Clare, David Sedaris, Jane Austen, and Charles Dickens.
Also, the quote in this blog's sub-heading comes from Tom Robbin's novel Still Life with the Woodpecker. Here's the full quote:
“What are you looking for in a typewriter?” the salesman asked.“Something more than words,” I replied. “Crystals. I want to send my readers armloads of crystals, some of which are the color of orchids and peonies, some of which pick up radio signals from a secret city that is half Paris and half Coney Island.”-Tom RobbinsThat's basically what I aim for in all my writing and blogging and life in general.
In addition to blogging here, I am also very active on several other social media sites. You can find me on:
