I'm participating in the "Saturday Snapshot" link-up again, hosted by At Home with Books.
I took this picture in the Summer of 2008, in Maine at a place called Hog Island, where the Audubon Society runs a camp for bird-watchers and nature enthusiasts (for adults and teens!). I was working there at the time, so I stayed on the island for about three months and saw many beautiful sunsets such as this one.
Hog Island has been on my mind lately, because I just signed up to go volunteer there for a few weeks this summer, after graduation but before I start my summer job in Tampa. I'm very excited! It's a beautiful place and I'll be seeing some old friends, eating some good food, so...should be a good time.
Here are a few other pictures I took on the same night:
Enjoy your Saturday, everyone!

Sounds like a wonderful place. I would have loved to go to birding camp. I'm probably a bit too old now though.
ReplyDeleteThe camp is for adults! And sometimes teens. But mostly adults! We've had campers in their 80s and they do just fine.
DeleteI'd go, too, so maybe they could start an old fogey birding camp?
ReplyDeleteNow that must have a been a wonderful time. I love your photos.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to spend the summer! It looks like such a beautiful place :)

ReplyDeleteThose are truly awesome photos...I love the bottom one big time. Could be a cover for a book!! Have a great time while you're there again!
ReplyDeleteI love those pictures... they reminded me of a setting in a book I read a while back...now its bugging me I cant think of the title... but it was a bout a restaurant resort on a bay.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! No wonder you want to go back...the whole place just shouts peace, quiet, and lots of special reading spots. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHere's MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT
Yes, lots of great reading spots! There's a spot on the porch that I particularly like. Thanks for stopping by.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Alyce!
DeleteWonderful photos. I'm up for an old gal camp out. We could hire a nurse, just in case.
ReplyDeleteGood plan!
DeleteThose are great! Lovely and rustic.
ReplyDeleteHere's my snapshot.
Yes, it's very rustic! But not too rustic.
DeleteYou can add photography to your list of accomplishments. I love the colors and the setting in that first photo. A friend of mine teaches journalism at U of F -- Wayne Garcia. Do you run into him from the English Department? Here's Mine
ReplyDeleteHi Paulita, I haven't run into Wayne Garcia. Too bad.
