And so it's February! Even though it's the shortest month of the year, February always feels like the longest one to me. There's not much to look forward to in February, and it's at a bad point in the semester. It's not close to the end, but it's not the beginning either. By this time I've settled into my routine - classes are no longer new and exciting, and someone in class is probably starting to get on my nerves. Also, sometimes it's cold (although that's not really true this February, at least not so far). Ah, February...
So how do we survive February?
Well, I have decided to make a list of things to look forward to, or things that will bring some excitement to this otherwise dull month. So here it goes...
Valentine's Day
A lot of people complain about Valentine's day, especially single people, but I like it. There's lots of chocolate everywhere and flowers. And normally my parents send me something. And also, with Valentine's Day comes...
New Cheesy Romantic comedies/dramdies at the movies
Another thing to look forward to in February! I mean, granted, romantic comedies aren't like, my raison-d'etre, but I enjoy watching them. It's something fun to do in February. I have been debating lately about whether I want to see The Vow. On one hand, it's probably a pretty cute movie. On the other hand, it's probably going to be super cheesy. But I like the two leads. Hmm...what other movies are coming out this month?
My mom's birthday and a mini-vacation
My mom's birthday is in Feburary, and she and my brother and I are all going to go to the beach for a weekend. So that should be nice. I'm looking forward to seeing them and to getting away from Gainesville. Also, I'm hoping my brother will bring some Crumb's cupcakes from New York (hint hint).
New books?
Are there any new books coming out in February? I mean, ones I might actually like. I can't think of any of the top of my head. But even if there's not, I still have a lot of catching up to do, so I always have new books to read.
And MORE cupcakes
I recently discovered a cupcake bakery in Gainesville that I really like? Their cupcakes are beautiful...and delicious! Something tells me I will be eating a lot more of them in February....
Gator Basketball
To be honest, I haven't been paying that much attention to basketball lately, but maybe we can change that this month. I'd really like to go to a game, especially since pretty soon I won't be eligible for those free student tickets! We're currently ranked number 12 (I just looked that up) and I still believe we could make it to the final four. Because UF hasn't won anything major since I've been here, and I KNOW the basketball team would not want me to leave without experiencing a real UF championship.
New episodes Gossip Girl
Will Chuck and Blair finally be together? Will Blair have a crisis of faith and abandon her silly "pact?" Will Dan confess his love to Blair? Will Real Cousin Charlie reveal her true identity? And will Serena ever get a clue? Only February will tell! I'm sure the new episodes will have me hanging in suspense all month and will give me something new and exciting to look forward to every Monday! Plus, all that shiny hair and jewelry will certainly brighten up this dull month.
Seeing Spamalot
My friend Lisa and I got student tickets to see Spamalot in February, and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm sure it's going to be hilarious, and I'm interested to see how they adapted the movie into a musical, especially since, from what I remember, the movie's plot was all over the place.
And....that's everything! At least everything that I can think of right now. Anyway, I'm sure this month will end up flying by, and then it will be time for one of my favorite months of the year: March!
